It's June! Time to think about Father’s Day, as well as the summer festival season!

From The Complete Middle-earth:

Lithe or The Lithedays refers to three days between Forelithe and Afterlithe, which were 1 Lithe, Midyear's Day, and 2 Lithe. In leap years (such as S.R. 1420), there were four Lithedays, including Overlithe. Called in Bree 'the Summerdays'. The Free Fair was held once every seven years on Lithe. The Fair was held on the White Downs and was attended by hobbits. The Mayor of the Shire was elected at the Free Fair.

And don't forget about summer holidays (such as in Gondor or Edoras) that may have been new or interesting to the hobbits as they encountered them for the first time. Aragorn and Arwen wed on Midsummer Eve, after all. :)
