Plotbunny free to a good home...

Interesting about the Elendilmir - the one Aragorn wore at his coronation was a replacement. The original, an artifact of Numenor, was lost with Isildur when he was killed. In Unfinished Tales, it says that two things were found - in a tiny hidden room in Orthanc which wouldn't have been found except that Gimli was with them and (being dwarvish) spotted the hidden door to a small chamber. In it were found the original Elendilmir and a chain with a locket on it meant to hold the Ring.

Clearly, at some point, Saruman found Isildur's remains - it's the only way those items would've been in Orthanc.

There's a great story idea for someone: How did Saruman find Isildur's remains and what did he do with them?

And because it's coming up to Hallowe'en - does Isildur's ghost haunt the tower of Orthanc, angry over the treatment of his remains?

Isildur's ghost is such a spooky idea! Since (for this community) the story would have to involve hobbits, maybe Pippin and Merry bring their children to visit Orthanc and have a ghostly encounter... or perhaps a legend grows in the Shire about "the ghost of the tower" and only the Travellers know the truth of it... or... *grins*
