[personal profile] shirebound posting in [community profile] hobbit_holidays
It's November, and time for another round of Hobbit Holidays! What a wonderful Halloween our hobbits enjoyed, thanks to all of you. (And my thanks to [livejournal.com profile] i_o_r_h_a_e_l for the reminder to make this November post! RL has been unbelievably busy.)

October brought us 26(!) stories and three lovely picspams, which are archived in 'memories'. We welcome drabbles, ficlets, stories, poetry, pics, or art -- old or new -- revolving around holidays celebrated or encountered by hobbits. All genres and ratings are permissible; therefore, posts should be clearly marked, and all stories and/or art must be under an lj-cut tag.

Now we come to... Thanksgiving, the American version or otherwise. How would hobbits celebrate a time of giving thanks? Do villages such as Hobbiton celebrate differently than larger regions such as Buckland? Do less well-off families have different things for which to be grateful than their more well-to-do neighbors? Do the hobbits have stories or traditions to tell their fellow Travellers along the Quest, or at journey's end? Do the hobbits celebrate Thanksgiving after they arrive in Rivendell? What do wee!hobbits think about, contribute, or experience during an autumnal festival or harvest feast?

And of course there's also Remembrance, or Veteran's Day -- a time to remember those who served to protect the freedom of their country or loved ones.

So dig up old stories, poems, etc., or think about new ones! And if any LOTR action figures happen to organize themselves a feast or celebration, be sure to snap a picture...

So, I go away for a while and you make a new community? No one told me about this. I must join so that I can read the holiday stories too. This is a great idea by the way.

I wrote a story on Thanksgiving two years ago and posted it once on Frodo-slash and on LJ My private LJ, (called The Day of Sharing) I don't believe I ever posted it on Hobbit Holiday. Would it be alright if I posted it on that community?

Put together a little something Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day-ish which actually contains hobbits between Dallas and St. Louis yesterday...
